“Don't think of robots as replacements for humans -- think of them as things that will help make us better at tackling many of the problems we face.”
Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) is a sub-mission under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of the Government of India under the NITI Aayog, with a vision to “cultivate one million children in India as neoteric innovators”. ATL is the flagship initiative of AIM, the Government of India, to nurture an innovative mind-set amongst high school students across the length and breadth of India
The objective of the scheme is to “foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds” and inculcate skills such as design mind-set, computational thinking, adaptive, physical computing, etc. ATL’s are workspaces where children can realize their ideas through hands-on do-it-yourself (DIY) mode and also acquire innovation skills.
They get the chance to comprehend STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) cconcepts. The laboratory contain educational kits and equipment on electronics, science, robotics, sensors, 3 D printers, computers, and open-source micro controller boards.
There would also be other activities such as national and regional level competitions, problem- solving workshops, exhibitions, etc
